Connect, Inspire, Motivate: An intensive program held over a 3-6 month period

The focus of this program is to help animal caregivers build resiliency, self awareness, leverage strengths, and design proactive strategies that address self defeating habits and the mindset that commonly leads to stress and burnout. This is accomplished through personal interviews, team building sessions, psycho-educational learning units, and a reflection process which provides step by step exercises in goal setting and follow through strategies to implement change.

Resiliency can be learned! Proactive strategies for personal well-being and resiliency can make a huge difference to one’s effectiveness and satisfaction at work. This skill has the ability to increase an organization’s productivity, engagement, and retention of staff.

Accountability is built into the program. Results are captured using confidential pre and post testing with individual and group self reporting inventories. Not only will each staff member be able to track his or her progress, but also the Fredericton SPCA will capture the specific challenges and strengths of the team as they surface in the process and the program’s ROI can be accessed.

Successful Stress Management happens gradually. Skills in building resiliency and managing stress usually improve over time. There is no instant fix. The recommended length of the formal program is three to six months.

Pause-Reflect-Act® is a unique, systematic process that provides the framework to make change possible. When followed, it can aid in raising self awareness, creating goals & building in commitment to change. The process helps participants to work independently. A personal workbook is provided and will include reflection exercises, learning modules, and goal-setting strategies.

A trained coach/mentor, who lives locally, can be trained parallel to the implementation of the program. Armed with new skills and awareness, the mentor can overlook the staff’s well-being and take over the program when the formal learning has been completed. It will set up an ongoing process for change.

Training and support (through teleconferencing/e-learning/socialmedia) will be available. Updated resources and e-learning modules are scheduled to be online and available to graduates and mentors in the near future.
